Mid-America Orthopedics KC Joins Sano Orthopedics
November 1, 2021
A larger team focused on your healing
Sano and Mid-America Orthopedics KC share the same interest in bringing better musculoskeletal health to our patients. By joining Sano, MAO KC will be well-positioned to improve access to care and increase the breadth of care to our patients.
Specifically, by joining Sano, MAO patients have access to new specialists, including a Spine Surgeon, Hand Surgeon, and Hip Surgeon. MAO patients have access to Sano’s Bone Health Clinic. In regards to access, Sano compliments MAO with its clinic locations in Lee’s Summit and Grandview. Due to proximity, Sano will merge its Overland Park clinic with the MAO Leawood office. Sano has an Ortho & Sports Urgent Care in Lee’s Summit, which is a walk-in clinic solely for acute musculoskeletal injuries. We will soon offer this service in Leawood, too!
By joining Sano Orthopedics, we can better achieve our mutual goal to offer the right care at the right time in the right setting.
What it means to you:

Your Questions Answered
Why is MAO joining Sano?
Sano Orthopedics and Mid-America Orthopedics KC share the same interest in bringing better musculoskeletal health to our patients. By joining Sano, MAO will be well-positioned to improve access to care and increase the breadth of care to our patients. With a bigger team to support your healing, MAO joining Sano will allow for more specialties and services and deliver easier access with 5 clinic locations, including walk-in clinics.
This new partnership does not involve the Wichita MAO locations.
Why do I need to complete new paperwork?
Since Mid-America Orthopedics KC is joining Sano Orthopedics, all patients legally need to review and accept Sano Orthopedics patient authorization forms to be treated. As a different organization, this authorizes your existing MAO providers to treat you as Sano providers.
When is MAO KC becoming Sano?
Will my insurance still be accepted?
Sano Orthopedics is currently accepting most major insurance plans, which match those of Mid-America Orthopedics KC. If you have questions about your coverage, you can reach out to your insurance plan to validate Sano is in-network or call us and we can assist: (816) 525-2840.
What phone number do I call to make an appointment?
Prior to November 1, to make an appointment with existing MAO-KC physicians, please call (913) 232-9846.
After November 1, please call Sano Orthopedics main line at (816) 525-2840 to schedule physician and physical therapy appointments. The existing MAO phone numbers will also transfer to the new Sano Orthopedics appointment phone.
Our team is here to help you have a smooth transition and is happy to answer any questions you may have.
Where and how do I pay for my bill?
If you are a new patient on November 1st or later, you will receive statements only from Sano Orthopedics. Sano is an electronic office and sends initial statements electronically via SMS and the patient portal. You will be able to pay your bill online via our website: click to pay.
For questions about a billing statement dated before November 1st, please call (913) 499-7532.
Will I still be able to schedule with my MAO Physician and Providers?
You will continue to receive high-quality care where and with whom you would like to see. All MAO physicians, except for Dr. Yager who is moving out of state, will retain their existing clinic locations and availability. Dr. Yager’s last day is Oct 1, but we have 5 other sports medicine physicians available to service you. Additionally, Sano has a Spine Surgeon, Hand Surgeon, and Hip Surgeon accepting new patients.
