Joint Replacement Overview:

Total joint replacement is a surgical procedure in which the bone surfaces of a joint are replaced with durable synthetic materials, such as plastic or metal, to reduce bone-on-bone friction, thereby relieving pain and restoring mobility. At Sano Orthopedics, we offer nationally-recognized hip and knee replacement procedures.

Robotic Knee Surgery

The robotic-assisted knee replacement is a newer technology that uses robotic arm technology to assist the surgeon in performing a total knee replacement. While the robot does NOT perform the surgery, it does help the surgeon perform with greater precision.

Quick Facts:

Joint replacement has been found to result in significant restoration of function and reduction in pain in over 90% of patients.

Z

The majority of joint replacement osteoarthritis patients feel that their joint replacement feels normal (47%) or natural (33%). Overall, there has been an improvement in quality of life, participation in activities, and emotions toward the condition since joint replacement surgery.)

Joint replacement surgery is not the only treatment option.  Sano orthopedic surgeons look at joint and movement health for today and 5 to 15 years from now.

Joint Replacement Procedures

When conservative treatment fails to relieve pain and improve range-of-motion, joint replacement surgery may be pursued. Each patient is unique, and it is important to talk to your orthopedic provider about the reason for your pain so you can discuss all available treatment options.

Anterior Hip Replacement

The anterior approach to total hip replacement surgery is a hip replacement technique and alternative to the traditional total hip replacement surgery. This newer technique offers many benefits, such as quicker recovery and less pain.

Knee Replacements

Typically, arthritis is the most common reason for knee replacement surgery to be performed. For those with severe joint deterioration in their knees, everyday life can be a struggle. Chronic pain from damaged knee cartilage can make it difficult to walk, climb stairs or even stand.

When medication and physical therapy fails to relieve knee pain and improve range-of-motion, knee replacement surgery may be necessary.

Robotic Knee Surgery

The surgical procedure using robotic technology is similar to traditional total knee replacement, but with a robotic assistant. This technology offers accurate bone removal and implant placement.
