Better Access
Healthcare is personal and challenging to navigate. We break down the barriers to obtaining care by making musculoskeletal care more accessible. This year, we took several steps to make it easier to access quality orthopedic care, including a new ortho urgent care, two-way texting, and online scheduling for our physicians.
Leawood Ortho & Sports Urgent Care
We started January with an opening of our second orthopedic urgent care in Leawood, KS. Now, having two ortho urgent care clinics helps us provide immediate access to orthopedic specialists. Call ahead, walk-in, or book online.
Two-Way Texting
We have secure texting capabilities, and this service goes beyond appointment reminders. Patients can text us clinic questions, appointment requests, form or referral needs, and prescription refill requests. For patients, this means fewer phone tags and more answers.
Doctor Online Scheduling
We added online scheduling for our ortho urgent care last year. This February, we added online scheduling for our physicians. This gives patients access to schedule when it works for them.
Sano in the Community
Healthcare is local. We have been developing relationships where we feel we can make an impact.
Official Sports Medicine Provider
We are all about teamwork. We apply teamwork within our Sano care team and outside of it. Our orthopedic and sports medicine specialists serve as team physicians for several local groups to ensure athletes are in peak condition during the preseason and regular season play.
We deliver high-quality preventative, surgical, and rehabilitative services to the following teams:

- Rockhurst Athletics
Sports Physicals
To support our athletes, we added walk-in sports physicals to our services. By adding sports physicals to our services, athletes can quickly obtain the required preseason clearance by an orthopedic expert.
Blood Drives
Sano Orthopedics hosted two blood drives in 2022. We hosted both drives in the lobby of our Lee’s Summit building. It was great to see staff and community members donate. We will continue hosting these in 2023!
Introducing In-Office Surgery
The surgical procedure performed for carpal tunnel syndrome is called carpal tunnel release. The goal is to relieve pressure on the median nerve by cutting the ligament that forms the tunnel’s roof. This procedure increases the tunnel size and decreases pressure on the median nerve.
Technological advancements have made it possible to perform many medical procedures safely in an office-based setting, including carpal tunnel release. Dr. Palmer has been an early adapter to this new technology, providing faster relief to our patients.

It certainly is challenging to navigate the red tape and administrative burden in healthcare. However, we remained focused on creating a healthier community for our patients. We are in healthcare for the people we serve, our patients.
