Dr. Dempewolf’s Specialties
Knee Arthroscopy
(ACL, MCL, PCL, Meniscus Injuries, Cartilage Restoration)
When knee ligaments are damaged, the knee joint may become unstable. Depending on the injury and lifestyle of the patient, conservative treatment or surgery may be necessary to provide stabilization of the knee. With Dr. Dempewolf’s experience treating competitive athletes and an extensive focus on knee arthroscopy, Dr. Dempewolf is able to maximize your chance to return to full function and sport without the risk of re-injury.
Pediatric Fracture Care
A sudden fall or sports injury may cause a sprain, tear, or broken bone. Our goal is to help kids feel safe and on the road to healing as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Children differ from adults in that they have superior bone healing and remodeling capacity. Because of this, many pediatric orthopedic injuries can be treated solely by external stabilization of the bone in a brace, cast, or splint. In some instances, surgical intervention is necessary for a full recovery. Dr. Dempewolf is an expert in sports injuries and fracture care, which includes kids. His primary goal is to promote healing of the bone in a normal position.
Sports & Athletic Injuries
Dr. Mike Dempewolf completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Southern California. Shoulder Arthroscopy
(Labral repair, rotator cuff repair, biceps surgery and shoulder replacements)
A sudden fall, accident, or heavy lifting may cause a shoulder injury. Many times, shoulder pain varies and increases over time. Depending on the injury, conservative treatment or surgery may be recommended. Dr. Dempewolf is an expert in shoulder care, which includes both Shoulder Arthroscopy and Shoulder Replacements.
Shoulder Replacement
A shoulder joint replacement treats an arthritic shoulder joint. The procedure is usually recommended to treat severe shoulder arthritis that does not respond to nonsurgical treatment options. Dr. Michael Dempewolf specializes in shoulder care, which includes primary stemless and reverse shoulder replacements.
Shoulder Injuries/Conditions
Shoulder injuries are frequently caused by athletic activities that involve excessive, repetitive, overhead motion, such as swimming, tennis, throwing, and weightlifting. Injuries can also occur during everyday activities. They can happen suddenly or increase in severity over time. Whether sudden or chronic, Dr. Michael Dempewolf specializes in treating all shoulder injuries. This includes proven conservative treatments, shoulder arthroscopy, and shoulder replacements.
ACL Repair / Reconstruction
Dr. Dempewolf specializes in knee ACL reconstruction. With his sports medicine fellowship and coverage as Team Physician for several teams in Kansas City, including the Kansas City Monarchs Baseball Team, Dr. Dempewolf maximizes your chance to return to function without the risk of re-injury.
