Creating Value Through Access
If you’ve been on the patient side of healthcare, you know how difficult it is to navigate. Our goal is to make it easier for patients to get the proper care they need when they need it.
We break down the barriers to obtaining care by making musculoskeletal care accessible. We aim to bring convenience to our patients through transparent self-pay pricing, texting communication, online booking options, walk-in clinics, telehealth availability, and easy-to-understand language.
Healthcare Today
Healthcare is confusing and personal, not to mention expensive. The inability of consumers to effectively research and compare healthcare costs and quality is a barrier for everyone. Increasing patients’ understanding of their conditions and diagnoses encourages proper utilization of healthcare resources. In addition, increasing health literacy by providing simplified pricing will help the consideration of the total value equation of care. Healthcare has been notoriously slow because it can. Yet, patients want ease in scheduling appointments and getting immediate answers, similar to how other industries operate.

Defining Value
Our goal is to provide the highest value to our patients. This value can be defined as the best experience for desired outcomes at the right price. We create value by supporting patient experience and quality outcomes through access to care.
Healthcare Value: Access to Care
To be accessible, we must make care convenient and easy to obtain.
Specifically, here’s how we do it:
- Two Ortho Urgent Care Clinics
- Secure Texting
- Telehealth
- Communication
- Online Scheduling
- 5 Locations
- Transparent Pricing
Ortho Urgent Care Clinics
We offer two walk-in ortho urgent care clinics: Lee’s Summit and Leawood. By seeing an orthopedic specialist for an orthopedic injury, patients can reduce the waiting for appointments and referrals.
Texting
We have secure texting capabilities, and this service goes beyond appointment reminders. Patients can text us clinic questions, appointment requests, form or referral needs, and prescription refill requests. For patients, this means fewer phone tags and more answers.
Online Scheduling
We offer online scheduling for our ortho urgent care clinics and physician appointments. So 24/7, patients can find a time that works for them.
Locations
Additionally, we have 5 office locations: Lee’s Summit, Leawood, Grandview, Paola, and Garnett. We continue to offer telehealth appointments for patients.
Transparent Self-Pay Pricing
The current landscape tolerates unknown pricing, placing the burden on patients. Now, nearly half of Americans carry medical debt. “Unlike other types of consumer debt, medical bills are hard to predict and hard to prevent, even for people with health insurance,” as a recent Forbes article points out.
We are committed to providing easy-to-understand appointment and in-office procedure prices. We continue to work with our facility partners to share transparent procedure prices.
Treatment options
Our practice name, Sano, Latin for health, also represents our approach to care. By listening to your goals, history, fears, and lifestyle needs, we can work with you to create a custom treatment plan.
Communication
Lastly, our care team speaks in terms that our patients can understand. If patients understand their diagnosis and treatment, then they will be active participants in their healing journey.
“Dr. Dempewolf is very thorough. He is easy to talk to and explains things very plainly so it’s easier to understand. He has a genuine caring demeanor that is getting harder and harder to find. Definitely recommend,” Paula, google review for Dr. Dempewolf.
Future of Musculoskeletal Care
Sano was founded to reinvent how musculoskeletal care is delivered in Kansas City and beyond. While healthcare burdens and red tape continue to add barriers to care, we remain focused on providing accessible orthopedic care.
It often feels like an uphill battle, but we believe, “Doing the right thing isn’t always easy – in fact, sometimes it’s real hard – but just remember that doing the right thing is always right.” (David Cottrell)
